At the European Union level the manufacturing and transportation sectors of rail freight wagons are governed by EU Directives that are implemented by the European Commission through the European Railway Agency. The European Railway Agency has been established to provide the EU Member States and the Commission with technical assistance in the fields of railway safety and interoperability. The most important aim of the European Union in the rail field is to set up an integrated European railway area, both legally and technically, by developing and implementing the technical specifications for interoperability and a common approach to questions concerning railway safety.

In light of the quality we want to provide to our customers and these regulations, the IRS manufacturing activities observe the following technical requirements and standards:

·   TSI 2006/861/CE – Technical specifications for interoperability,
·   UIC Files – Regulations and requirements for components specific to railway vehicles,
·   CUU Norms (AVV for Germany) – Uniform agreement for using railways wagons,
·   RID 2007 – Regulations for transporting dangerous products,
·   SR EN 12663 – Dimension requirements of the structure of railway vehicles,
·   SR EN 14731 – Welding co-ordination, attributions and responsibilities,
·   EN ISO 287-1 – Qualification of welders,
·   DIN EN ISO-15607 – Requirements and qualifications of welding methods for metallic materials,
·   SR EN 15085 – Welding of the railway components and vehicles,
·   EN 14025 –Containers and tanks for transporting dangerous products,
·   EN 13445 – Recipients under pressure non-exposed to flames,
·   DIN EN 13775-2 – Measurement of railway freight wagons for new construction and for transformations,
·   DIN 6700 – Welding of railway components and vehicles,
·   PTC 4/1, 4/2, 11/2003 – ISCIR Prescriptions – National technical regulations concerning non-pressured stable metallic recipients, tank recipients, and containers for condensed gases,
·   SR EN 10163-1,2,3 – Delivery conditions concerning the state of iron plates’ surfaces, universal irons and profiles of hot-laminated steel,
·   SR EN 10029 – Tolerances regarding dimensions, shape and mass of plates of hot-laminated steel.
